My child is having cradle cap
Seborrhea or "cradle cap" is caused by too much sebum produced by sebaceous glands located at the base of the hair. Note that this condition, often benign, can appear from the 3rd or 4th week of life and disappears for most of the time, around the age of 1 year. Few preventive measures can be taken apart from the assiduous washing of the head 2 to 3 times a week with a mild shampoo.
To eliminate these famous crusts, application of oil (sweet almond, mineral ...) on the scalp followed by brushing it gently (with a soft bristle brush) is often an effective way to remove it all off. Specialized shampoos are also available in pharmacies. Check with your pharmacist!
